Trailmaster Pool Party at Ken and Kay Foster's.  See Calendar below.

Very sad news, Key Foster's mother Florence Ennis has passed away.  She was a mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother to many.  We all know a lot of them through the Foster family.  Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.

*Mike and Connie Thompson received a phone call just a few hours from returning home from vacation in Colorado, to hear horrible news that their house was flooded. The new floors and carpet are ruined not to mention the furniture and belongs. They are now continuing to live in the motor home in the back yard until things can be fixed.

*Fires in the East Mojave-Don’t have all the details, we know that Goffs has so far been ok.  Some 52,000 Acres have been burned. The Wild Horse and Narrows fires joined to some extent and went through Round Valley entering just north of the Narrows.  We talked to Dick and Kathy MacPherson, also long time friends of Goffs and Friends of the Mojave Road, just a few days after they lost there residence and there is nothing left of their 80 acres. Goffs is continuing to clear brush and weeds and is staying alert

*Brett and the Avy-Check out the September Issue of Petersons 4 Wheel Off Road on page 78 for the write up on the Avy.

*Congratulations-Mike Ahrens is now the proud owner of a 2005 Suzuki 400 DRZ

If you would like to hear about the trip talk to one of the group that went-Mike and Connie Thompson, Larry and Barbara (Connie’s mom and dad) Kevin, Erin, and Allison Askier, Eric Davis, Gary and Terri McKibbon or Raymond and Judy Davis, They may even show you some of the many pictures they took.  Judy

Why do banks leave the doors open, and chain the pens to the counters?

Maybe the word "Politics" describes the process better than we think.  If "Poli" in Latin means "many" and "tics" means bloodsucking creatures, does Politics mean many bloodsucking creatures?

Why do drive up ATM machines have Braille lettering?

 Randsburg White House Saloon

Had an interesting adventure yesterday afternoon.  Was out at China Lake to see some customers, and decided to take a detour through Randsburg and see what's there.  I stop in the White House Saloon for a coke, and who is there?  My fraternity buddy Jim Veech that I haven't seen since 1972!!

Jim moved out to Randsburg in the mid-80's and bought the White House.  It's a very popular stop for dirt-bikers and off-roaders in the area, much like the Iron Door is in Anza Borrego.  Ed Waldheim and Rick Russell are regulars.

Hot enough for ya?  This was how hot it got where I was working out by Wagon Wheel staging area, right before it started to rain!!!!

Jim's got a 47 Jeep that he drives regularly, but doesn't get to off-road much anymore because the Saloon's keeping him busy.

Randsburg is in the hilly area just before you turn off to go to the Wagon Wheel staging area.  Be sure to stop in for a cold one and a bite if you're in the area.  It's dirt-bike and 4-wheeling friendly, and Jim's said to make the best double cheeseburgers anywhere!  He's mostly open around weekends and closes early.  Tell him John Lewis sent you, and he'll only charge you double.

We've been on vaction so we're not up on who is working on their vehicles.  Update next month.

John's Astro  -  OK I've been writing this thing with the house AC out, so to fill in some space, I'm gonna rant a bit about  Power Chevrolet.

Well, the Astro's not exactly my 4wd, but an AWD that tows the stuff out to the desert.  Took it into Power Chevrolet with the "Service Engine" light on and the OBD saying it was a miss in Cyl 3.  Hoped it was a fuel injector, but no such luck.  Needed a valve job.  Kept it there and paid through the nose because I really needed it back soon.  (Had a Durango Hemi as a rental in the mean time - fun!)  Well, they called back and said the exhaust manifolds were warped and it would take another week.  Then they didn't come in and it took ANOTHER week, and they refused to have them expressed in and just brought them in with their weekly shipment.  Finally got it back and had to finish up some things they left loose - such as the air hose behind the air flow sensor!

Paid through the nose, got it back late due to their errors, and even then they still didn't get it right.  Rant Rant Rant.......  Next time I'll do it myself and save time and money!
