Tyler
Lewis's first race. Tyler and
John entered the 69 Lotus Europa in their first event. SCCA Solo 2 at
Fontana on Oct 23rd. Tyler, age 16, had never driven a car at speed
before. (he'd better not have!!! - Dad) But, in spite if his
lack of experience, he finished in FIRST PLACE!!!!!
OK, so he beat a bunch of experienced old farts, no big deal, but what is
really bad is that he beat his DAD!!!! In spite of that, he
got a shiny new helmet for his birthday.

Monthly Chuckle
Ever Wonder:
Why isn't there a mouse
flavored cat food?
Why isn't there a cat
flavored dog food?
Why didn't Noah swat
those mosquitoes?
Why do they sterilize
needles for lethal injections?
Why don't sheep shrink
when it rains?
Why are they called
apartments, when they are all stuck together?

Allison Mobile - It Made It! The Jeep may stil
be three different colors, and it has a few bugs to work out, but maybe a
carburetor? But, it does climb hills and it is doing good! Yeah!!
Steve Foster - Yea, the Foster's were able to finish
their Jeep too, and bring it out!! Had a bit of a problem, broke the
driveshaft but it will be fixed by Thanksgiving.
John Lewis - The old beater 84 motorhome passed smog!
They've had it for 15 years, so it's a part of the family now.
Usual smog place was closed and each year it barely passed. Took it to a new
place and it passed with flying colors. Hmm, was the old place trying
to get a few extra bucks for a tune'up??
HALLOWEEN RUN
What a Great Weekend. First we would
all like to again Thank Ed and Kathy Crook for putting this Run on. The
weather could not have been more perfect. Most everyone arrived on Friday,
some early enough to test out and dust off the cob web from the jeeps that
had been sitting for a while. Friday evening there was time to visit with
everyone we hadn’t seen in a while.
Saturday morning Jack, Charleen, and
Cameron, finally found Boone road and were the final ones in. Kathy and Ed
led one group and did Sledge Hammer and everyone did quite well. The other
group did some final work on the Askier jeep and then were led by Danny to
see how some of the vehicles would do on part of Jack Hammer, again,
everyone did well. Both groups met back at the Sand dunes for some fun and
a little father/son competition between the Davis boys. I think everybody
got a ride. We also saw a C17 while out on maneuvers, very close up.
Then it was back to camp. After dinner
the kids did the annual Trick or Treat the motor homes. We had some really
cute costumes as usual!
9pm was time for the jeeps to come out
and play again. Kathy and Ed, had done a Poker/GPS course, not to far from
camp, so no one could get lost. It was allot of fun!!! Then when everyone
got back to camp, you picked your poker hand and Kathy had prizes. The rest
of the evening everyone visited around the campfire and caught up on the
past.
Sunday morning it was time to pack up
and go home. We are looking forward again to next year!!! BOOO!
OK, Everyone, the season is almost here so finish up doing
what you need to and let's go jeepin'!
